  1. Welcome to Jeff ValleyFeb 10, 2009 04:43 PM

Fuck you guys, you guys know that the Pixies are my favorite band, and you said that just to get me all riled up. Pissed.

Finally all caught up on the podcasts. Very Duty.

Looking forward to hearing about the Meshuggah show. At least I had the sense not to say anything derogatory to that lead singer- he looked like he would've eaten his way out of me if I had.

    Scary dudes make great frontmen.

  2. I think some of the Pixies Love comes from the reflected glory of one Kurt Cobain. Since he made such a show of loving that band, it's almost a 2 for 1. This warped critical math equation that says "if Nirvana 'saved' rock music and Nirvana did little else but rip off the Pixies, ergo The Pixies saved rock music." The floodgates his namechecking of other bands opened up was just bonus. Why this never trickled down to the two bands Cobain himself credited Nevermind as sounding (his formula: Celtic Frost + Smithereens = Nevermind) baffles and frustrates me to this day.

  3. And while I'm thinking of it, I still use all formats: vinyl, MP3s, tapes and CDs. And I am lame and still shop at iTunes. Though I tend to buy stuff there that I already have on vinyl/tape. Or vice versa, oddly enough. And the library is awesome for free copies, as long as they're not too scratched up.

  4. The top six was aces this week. Especially Sublime. I know a couple people who are obsessed with them, and I don't get it. But can we add Aerosmith to the list, please? I suppose it's okay for you to like one or two songs (as long as they're early), but Aerosmith should not be your favorite band.

Oh, and I just checked...I've purchased 622 songs (or 10.99 gigs) from iTunes. So I guess I'm a heavy users of iTunes.
