9. Tegan and Sara The Con 'Cause them Broadway co-eds won't come over if we're NSFW all the time. STANDOUT TRACK: "The Con": Multi-multi-tracked vokills, Moogified boom bashin', and sweet sweet femullets give us the hook-laden shower haunts!

8: ZZ Top Tres Hombres Way heavier than we thought and every song ripe for a stoner rock makeover. STANDOUT TRACK: "Precious And Grace": Best riff of '07 (even if it dropped in '73.)


7. Turbonegro Retox When manTooth finally puts out a record, it's gonna sound a lot like this. STANDOUT TRACK "Hell Toupee": This track wins just for the "Googlin' for wigs" line.

6. Arcade Fire Neon Bible Not nearly as depressing as Funeral, which is great 'cause we can listen to it more without wanting to kill ourselves. STANDOUT TRACK "My Body Is A Cage": Okay, this one gets us a little weepy.


5. At The Gates Slaughter Of The Soul Once again, why the fuck haven't we been listening to this for the last 12 years?!? We suck. STANDOUT TRACK: "Slaughter Of The Soul": GOOOOOHHH!

4. Radiohead In Rainbows Oh noes! The Internet is taking over! Act accordingly. STANDOUT TRACK: "Jigsaw Falling Into Place": We get shivers every time Thom sings that "beat goes round and round" part.


3. Immortal Sons Of The Northern Darkness From now on we're Sons of the Northwest Darkness. Abbath, we can't thank you enough. STANDOUT TRACK: "One By One": Thrashin' bridges have us worship at the frosty mountain throne.

1. Queens Of The Stone Age Era Vulgaris Maybe the most inaccessible mainstream rock record since Angel Dust, and y'all know how we feel about that one. Homme is God. STANDOUT TRACK: "Make It Wit Chu": We know it's an old Desert Sessions tune, but it's a welcomed slow rock jam in between all the chaos 'n bleeps 'n creeps of Vulgaris.
